New & Improved Short Story!!! - One Minute

This is my short story after revising!!!

One Minute
Imagine yourself standing on the basketball court. Your team stands behind you ready to play. In front of you is your biggest enemy, and he is determined to take the victory away from you. There is so much sweat on your head that you look like you jumped out of a pool seconds before. You look at the clock, and there is one minute left in the final quarter of the game. You look at the scoreboard, and the score is 56-58. You are losing by two points. Your mind is jumbled, and the only thing you know at the moment is play and get the ball. Will you do it?
This situation is the one I was in. It was the Middle School Basketball State Championships, and my school was playing in the final game. Before the clock started to count down from 60 my mind flashed back to the beginning of the season. Paxton was the kid I had been head to head with all season. We were always worst enemies, and we never did anything together but fight. Now I had to play against him in the State Championship game, and if I really lost I would get a whole lot of trash for weeks from him. I could not let that happen! My team would be mad, I would be mad, but worst of all Paxton would be happy!
All of a sudden I heard a loud buzzer go off, ”BUZZZZZ!” The annoying, loud, dreadful sound brought my senses back to life and my head was in the game. The referee threw the ball high into the air. I saw my team mate smack the ball, and it came flying into my hands. I wanted to stand there. Everything was a blur, and I decided to just dribble down the court as fast as my little legs could carry me. Behind me I could hear all of the feet stomping into the hard wooden floor. It sounded like a band of wooden drums that could not figure out how to play together.  All of a sudden the ball was swept from my hands. I turned to find Paxton dribbling down the court. I ran to catch him. Paxton shot the ball, and I felt as if I had just failed. The ball bounced twice on the rim. Everything seemed to go into slow motion! The seemed to stop and balance on the rim, and then fell straight into my arms. Paxton had missed, and I had a chance!
I started running down the court as fast as I could, but not to fast for my dribbling pace. I was clear ahead of everyone else, so this was my last chance to make that winning shot people dream of making. My feet felt like bricks, and I felt as if magnets were pulling my feet into the floor. I was using all my strength to pick up my feet!  This time I could only hear my feet stomping into the floor, and with every step a loud thump filled my ears. I glanced at the clock, and there was 7 seconds left! I could not believe time flew by so quickly! But now was not the time to worry about the clock. I had to make a basket. I saw the the three point line about 5 steps ahead, and there was 3 seconds left! I rushed to the line, and got ready to shoot. My feet came together, and the ball came into my hands, and then my hands came back over my head. I flipped the ball out my hands, and right as the clock said one second! The ball was flying to the hoop, and everyone was hoping that the ball would do as they wanted it to do. “BUZZZZZ” the time was out, and the ball was still in the air. This shoot was my last chance to victory! Everybody was getting up onto their feet. Time seemed to stop, and the ball seemed to soar through the air, and every inch it traveled seemed to take forever! I saw the ball get near the rim. I was gritting my teeth in hope that the ball would fly into the hoop. The ball soared over the rim, and“SWISH!” the ball had gone into the net!
I had done it, I had just made the winning shot for my team! The final score was 59-58, and this time we were up by one point! I saw the opposing team’s coach yell at Paxton for missing the shoot, so to be nice, I jogged over to Paxton to shake his hand, “Good game!” I said. Paxton replied, “You played good today! Great job! Do you want to play one on one sometime soon?”  I was shocked! I couldn’t believe how nice Paxton was being! I smiled and responded, “That would be fun! Let’s put our rivalry behind us!” Paxton smiled back and nodded. Paxton was actually a really nice kid! I shuffled away to join the party my team was throwing on the other side of the court. This game was the best game ever, because I was the one who made the win so special!

Memoir! Poor George rough draft

Poor George
By Brianna Warburton

Imagine yourself as a 5 year old. You and your older brother are sitting on the couch, and your parents are sitting in small chairs in front of you. The only times you remember sitting here are when you have serious talks. The room feels tense, but you are to young to realize how tense it really is. You listen to your parents carefully. They tell you soon a 7 year old boy named George would be moving into the house, and that the family would officially be starting foster care. You honestly don’t know what foster care is, but you are old enough to know a boy would be living with your family. How do you feel about this?

I was that little 5 year old, and I wasn’t very happy to think we were getting another member in the family. In fact I was very angry, and was wishing that the sun would never set and the day would never end. I wished George would have to go to the hospital and never be able to show up. However I knew that was most likely never going to happen. I knew that soon this dreaded day would come and George would have to show up. So I decided I hated George, and that I would never let him play with me.

A couple of days later George came. He was pretty tall compared to me with light skin and dark hair. He and his sister were separated through his tragic years in so many different families, and because of this he was usually sad. He was very shy, but it did not matter because I didn’t want to talk to him anyway. I told myself to never talk to him.

George and my brother became pretty good friends. I was not happy about this. Jeff was my brother, and if he was my brother he could not be friends with someone I hated! I would tell Jeff, “You can not be friends with George, he is evil!” Jeff was scared of me and would usually listen, but this time he would run away before I could slap him. I was so angry now! I would not talk to him. I wanted to do something to George, and make him pay for taking away my brother.

One day I was playing by myself outside. I was looking around as bored as I could ever be. I was still plotting to do something to George, but that mischievous idea had not popped into my head just yet. My little eyes spotted a metal baseball bat out in the lawn, and it hit me! The thing I had to do to make George miserable was hit him!

I sat behind a wall by the stairs with the metal base ball bat in my hand. I was debating. Should I do it? Should I send George tumbling down in pain? It was to late to reconsider now, because George was climbing the stairs. Every step seemed to take forever. 3 steps, 2steps, 1 step. “BLAM!” I smacked poor George in the head with the hard, metal baseball bat. He went tumbling down the stairs. “Thump, thump, thump” it was the noise George made as he fell to the bottom of the stairs of pain.

George sat at the bottom of the stairs, and he was crying hard. I heard a voice behind me, “Brianna!” The voice seemed to stab me. The pain of guilt I felt seemed like it hurt worse than the huge goose egg on George’s throbbing head. I already knew I was in for a spanken and a timeout. My mom picked me up, and dragged me to my room. I sat there screaming, and I sat there thinking about what i had done to poor George.

Today I am 13, and feel awful for hurting poor little George. After I got out of timeout I had to play with George, and I learned he was not so bad. Now I wish I could find where George is, and tell him how sorry I am for hitting his poor little head. You can’t judge people before you even meet them! I promise I never will again!

My Rabbit:)

I love my rabbit!! His name is Zoro and he is a straight black mini rex:) He is the love of my life! He likes to jump on my back and eat my stuff, but I love him!

Soooooo Tired!!!

I honestly love school! However, today it was especially hard to get up. There wasn't anything exciting I knew of today, and after a long weekend I was not ready to come back. When I heard my alarm go off this morning at 6:05 I was to tired to get up! So I pressed snooze every 5 minuts until 6:25. Now I am sooooo tired! I about fell asleep in math! But today has been ok, but I still have 4 periods ahead of me!!!! Hopefully I will wake up by then ;)

Plot Idea!!!!

So, I have a plot idea about a house that burnt down. Some officials go to investigate the house, and see how it burnt down. What they find in there is not what they expected...

Lazy Days:)

I love Saturdays, especially when it is football season. My parents will lay around and watch football, and I will lay around and do random stuff! Right now I am in a t-shirt and sweatpants, my favorite thing to wear! Really the Lazy Saturdays are the only days I get to wear this all day. Today, while I was laying around in my comfy clothes, I watched the BYU football game with my family. It was an ugly win for BYU!!!!!!!!!! The final score was 13-14.... BYU TAKES THE WIN!!!!!

My week so far!

Well it is the end of the second week of school and first week of dance. I am really liking both so far! All of my teachers at school are really nice! I am so glad to not only have nice teachers, but ones who can teach well too. Dance is SO fun!!!!! As you know my hip-hop dance theme is construction workers, but the rest of my dances do not have a theme! Cheer will never have a theme, and contempt just has a cool song! My point dance will be part of the finale:) I am excited for the concert! I am very sore and tired. We have done so many workouts! Abs, calve raises, squats, frog jumps, wall sits, and worst of all...
super splits! They kill me! I can barely walk everyday. At least its tons of fun!!!!!
